Guy Fawkes Night or Bonfire Night

(Fireworks display above the Houses of Parliament in London, UK)

On 5 November every year, children in Britain celebrate Bonfire Night (Guy Fawkes’ Night). They light bonfires  and enjoy fireworks displays. On top of the fire is a guy (a homemade model of a man, like a scarecrow). They do these things because they’re remembering when the King of England, James l, and the Houses of Parliament were nearly blown up with gunpowder.

“Remember, remember,
the fifth of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
We see no reason why
Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!”

Dear Young Reader,
Your task is to make a Guy Fawkes craft by printing and colouring the following template: Guy Fawkes
Moreover, if you learn the rhyme Remember, remember… by heart (fejből), you can get a 5*.

Have fun! 🙂
